No Foolin', I've Been Skiing

Howdy Peeps,
I hope this note finds you well. I have had plenty of fresh turns in the powder and have spent some time outside. Oh joy, it has been nice. With over 2 feet in the last storm cell, we keep getting little bits of snow. Boy, do we need it. There has been a definite change to spring snow, but we are still in the thick of winter. And I do love the snow and cold temps.

Really Great Snow, Finally

This is a video of Scott skiing Bradley's Meadow, a popular out of bounds area. Avalanche beacon, probe, shovel and partner are always useful. We bring them all when we venture out into the backcountry.

Have a swell Thursday,

Savory Miso Soup Recipe

I have always loved Miso Soup and would only enjoy it at sushi restaurants. Well, not any more. Here is an easy recipe (I mean really easy) that is delicious, and will have you making your own restaurant caliber Miso Soup. Use this recipe, there is a difference in the little premade packets, they are not as good. I was made aware of the good things in miso by the BBC's show "You are what you eat" . This show is stinking funny, and you should watch it, if you already haven't. Around the world people enjoy Miso Soup for breakfast.

I found information that suggests that Miso:
Is made of a list of nutrients and health benefits that help to prevent one of the most deadly diseases waging war upon our bodies, breast cancer. Additionally it is rich with antioxidants and protective fatty acids, and a healthy dose of Vitamin E. It also boasts protein and Vitamin B12, and a nice selection of minerals to help boost the strength of your immune system.

Our latest batch included:
cilantro, Crimini Mushrooms, red chili pepper,
scallions and tofu.

And it was so yummy!
I always make a double batch!

Miso Soup Recipe:
2 tsp dashi granule
4 C water
3 T miso paste (yellow, white, or red)
8 oz tofu, diced
2 green onions, sliced diagonally into 1/2 inch pieces

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine dashi granules and water. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium and whisk in the miso paste. Stir in tofu and any other ingredients (put your veggies in here). Simmer gently for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Ready in 20 minutes for 4 servings.

Give it a try, you won't be dissapointed. You can find dashi granules and miso paste at most hippy food marts or try an Asian deli.

Have a happening Tuesday,
Chef Bisquit
